About Us
We are a family-owned guest farm in the heart of the Eastern Cape. Situated on the Blue Crane Route, close to the town of Pearston, we offer our visitors an unparalleled and authentic African safari experience.
Our location in the Karoo places us in an ideal position to enjoy this popular region of South Africa that is known for its sprawling landscape, scattered with hills. The vegetation is typical of the Eastern Cape with “Spekboom”, aloe, thorn trees and Karoo bush. The veld varies from semi-desert to dense bushes, mountains and grassland. Spend a day out in the unspoiled wilderness and come home to an inviting campfire under starry night skies – the ideal setting for reconnecting with nature.
At Turksvygrivier Safaris we welcome all families, couples, hunters, campers, and the many bikers who frequently explore South Africa’s best gravel roads.
We are a fully independent solar operational farm completely off the grid. Still we have all the necessary facilities but use the energy as efficiently as possible.
Our gravel landingstrip is 900m long which allows for light airplanes to land and take off safely. It is very convenient for the busy client who has limited time. The sport pilots also enjoy stopping over for a quick snack or overnight stay.
Our family heritage
Our family consists of mom and dad, Arrie and Stephanie Stopforth, and their two daughters, Phia and Vaudri. Arrie, an Elsenburg graduated farmer, is a very experienced hunter who especially enjoys training novice hunters. He specialises in giving guests the hunting experience of a lifetime.
Stephanie, a Stellenbosch graduate in education, still managing the family Estate Agency in Strand, Western Cape, has a passion for cooking which she lives out to the fullest on the farm. She also caters for guests’ breakfast, lunch and dinner and organizes veld lunch packs for the hunters, and on request
Stephanie with her team and has developed a range of organic products made from fresh produce from the farm. This includes preserves, pickles and jams and her special venison pies. This is marketed under Stephs, as she is called by family and dear ones.
